Tlaxcala is a small state in central Mexico, east of the country's capital. To the south, the archaeological site of Cacaxtla houses frescoes of Mayan origin full of color, while in the nearby ruins of Xochitecatl there are ancient pyramids. To the northeast of that area, the state capital of Tlaxcala boasts a remarkable architecture, such as the Government Palace of Tlaxcala, with its orange colored tile facade and murals depicting local history.
